A Wedding Day That Started at Greystone Castle
The day began at Greystone Castle, one of those venues that immediately gives a wedding gallery a sense of character. The building has a historic, castle-like presence, with stone architecture, arched details, and a timeless feel that made it such a strong backdrop for wedding photos.
One of the most memorable parts of the day was heading up to the roof for portraits. There is something about rooftop wedding portraits that adds a little extra energy to the gallery.
Between the height, the architecture, and the excitement of the day, it gave Eric and Lorin’s photos a unique look that stood out right away. Greystone Castle was the perfect starting point for the day. It gave us a mix of classic architecture, dramatic textures, and that old-world Central New York charm that photographs beautifully.
Ending the Celebration at Skyline Lodge
After starting the day at Greystone Castle, the celebration continued at Skyline Lodge at Highland Forest. The shift from a historic stone venue to a lodge surrounded by trees gave the day such a nice balance. Skyline Lodge has that warm, natural, tucked-away feeling that makes a reception feel relaxed, inviting, and full of life.
Located within Highland Forest, Skyline Lodge is surrounded by acres of wooded scenery, trails, and peaceful outdoor space. It is the kind of venue that feels removed from the rush of everything else, which made it a great setting for the second half of Eric and Lorin’s wedding day.
Once everyone arrived at Skyline Lodge, the day opened up into a fun and lively reception. The atmosphere was upbeat, the people were excited, and the whole evening had that feeling of everyone being fully present and ready to celebrate.
A Fun Dessert Idea: The Donut Wall
One of the details that surprised me most was their dessert setup. Instead of a traditional dessert table, they had a rack of donuts displayed on pegs so guests could walk up and pick their favorite one.
It was simple, fun, and honestly such a great idea. Wedding desserts are always a nice detail, but this made it interactive in a way that guests could actually enjoy. It added personality to the reception and gave people something a little different to talk about.
A Great Start to Wedding Season
Eric and Lorin’s wedding was a great way to kick off the season. From rooftop portraits at Greystone Castle to an energetic reception at Skyline Lodge, the whole day had a little bit of everything: beautiful venues, fun people, unique details, and plenty of moments worth remembering.
This gallery is a great example of how much variety Central New York weddings can offer. In one day, we moved from historic architecture in Canastota to a scenic lodge in the woods of Fabius, and both locations added something completely different to the story.
